BIOGRAPHY

Mariel Gimeno-Bayón has a natural inclination for all things artistic.
She began her career studying design at the well known Elisava school in Barcelona. In the year of 2000 she graduated in Graphic Design, specialising in Multi-Media at Elisava and at the University of Southampton.

She began her working life in the publicity agency TBWA as a Junior Art Director.
The company then offered her a chance to work in their London offices and being a character eager to experience life, she leapt at the chance to live and work in a true Metropolis.

Living in London gave her a chance to branch out into other areas, so whilst working for TBWA she took every opportunity to study as well. She took courses in pattern cutting, drapery, print design and textiles, taking her courses in top colleges such as Central St Martins and The London College of Fashion.

During this period she had the luck to meet various designers working in the industry of film and television.. So she moved away from Art Direction and into the world of Costume Design. She had the opportunity to experience working on well known British TV shows such as The Catherine Tate show, Dead Ringers, Footballers wives, as well as movies like This is England… She also experienced styling and assisting on many commercials. All in all, gaining experience over the course of 5 years in this field.

Following this intense chunk of London life, a period of travel was due… So she moved around the East.. Taking in courses as she travelled. The dying processes of Batik, Shibori, dress making and jewellery making in countries such as India, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan.

Finally she returned to Barcelona and taking this extensive experience of the past few years, she put herself to work…forming a design collective, El Lince.
She also worked as a freelance stylist and Costume Designer on many publicity photo shoots and commercials and fashion shows.
She worked on various  fashion shows in Ibiza like ADLIB, BLUE FASHION and Atzaró Fashion and various shows for Traid the British recycled clothing fashion company.
She worked with photographers such as Stuart Weston, Yuki Lutz, Mike Blackett, Sergio Garcia, Carmen-ordoñez, Marcela Patiño…
And on commercials starring celebrities such as Antonio Banderas, Leo Messi, Christina Rosenvinge  styling for massive global brands such as BMW, OPEL, NIKE to name but a few.
She also had the opportunity to design the Costumes for the Goya award winning movie Tres Dias amb la Familia.
